It is always great to get out of comfort zone and give yourself a challenge. I am going to challenge myself to build niche sites which generate passive income. The progress on building profitable niche site from scratch will be revealed in the blog. Reason to reveal the process is to provide to case study for each of you here instead of the boring how-to post. More importantly, this can keep myself motivated and build up the momentum to fill up my passive income portfolio.
My Niche Site Strategy:
The idea for a niche site is pretty simple. It have to laser focus on one specific keyword and domain name should contain the targeted keyword (preferred exact match domain with .com/.org/.net as extension). You have to ensure it rank well in Google search result to gain as much traffic as possible and lastly monetize the organic traffic.
- Keyword: I am looking for keyword with minimum 1000 exact search per month and it should be low competition.
- Cost per Click (CPC): Since monetization is done via Google Adsense, so I am going check the CPC base on Google Adwords and it have to be minimum $1.
- Domain: Exact match domain (EMD) is always prefered and should have use .com/.org/ .net as extension.
- WordPress: WordPress is always the best blog platform for niche site as there are many free and useful plugins can be used. The most important is that Google likes WordPress blog.
- Content: I will have two 500-word articles for the niche site. First article should be written based on the targeted keyword while the other one is targeting other related keyword. 1% of keyword density would be appropriate as excessive keyword repetition on one article will be marked as SPAM by Google.
- Monetization: There is no other easier way to monetize a niche site with Google ads. However, I might include affiliate links if they are applicable.
- Link Building: One of the crucial steps to get your niche site rank well and it have to be done carefully and correctly. I am going to reveal my plan in my later post.
- Site Optimization: Optimization should include ads click through rate (CTR) to increase revenue and site contents to improve traffic from other long tail keyword.
My Goal:
The goal for this challenge is quite straight forward. It has to generate $30/month after the niche site is up for 3 months.This figure does not sound ambitious but it is definitely a good start for me. Something more valuable in this challenge is the process of learning how to build a profitable niche site.
